Music Video Premiere: Void Paradigm, “Earth’s Disease”

Earth’s Disease is the second album by the Rouen, France, self-described “hypnotic dodecatonic black metal” band Void Paradigm. What exactly does that mean? Hypnotic, OK, yeah, I’m mesmerized by their pulsating, frenetic jams. Dodecatonic, alright, it does sound as if they use all twelve notes of the scale, so why not? And black metal? Sure, there’s some elements of it here.

But that still doesn’t quite capture who this band is and why you’ll love them: whatever you wanna call Void Paradigm, just trust us on this one. They’re at once experimental and intense, a balance that’s so rarely struck; all too often bands go too far off the deep end or focus too much on brutality. They play just the kind of oddball metal that MetalSucks readers are gonna love, but they do so in a way that doesn’t sacrifice songcraft. In other words, they’re not assholes about it.
