Armored Saint Bless This “Mess”
Last week, we posted the title track off of Armored Saint’s new album, Win Hands Down, which was exactly what we wanted from the band: a big, kinetic thrash song with John Bush bellowing his face off.
Well, we found out via Metal Insider that the band has premiered another track on Loudwire called “Mess,” and it just keeps the momentum going. This track reminds me of the best alternative metal coming out in the early to mid ’90s — it’s fast and intense, but still kind of off-kilter and very musical. John Bush had this to say about the track:
Possibly the heaviest song Armored Saint has ever written. I continue to marvel at the amount of garbage that’s created on our planet. Whether it’s food or other disposable items. We could blame groups like Monsanto and that would certainly be valid, but it all comes back to personal accountability. We could all do better… We’re consuming maniacs. All you can eat buffets offered to a third of Americans who are obese doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. That is unless were trying to kill ourselves. What a mess.
Cheery! But kind of classic. People like to think of ’80s thrash as being all about mushroom clouds and Satan but they often forget how socially conscious it used to be.
Listen to the track below. Win Hands Down comes out on June 2nd, but you can pre-order it here. The band is also touring the U.S. with Saxon next month, so catch them at one of the following locations:
