Unleashed: More Like “Defenders of Awesome,” Amirite??
Unleashed will release their twelfth (!) studio album later this month, Dawn of the Nine. In February they put out a track from that album called “Where is Your God Now?” and an MS commenter who goes by the handle P-ST0LER0 offered up the following about it:
I wish there was something more to Headlund’s vocals, but I guess it wouldn’t be Unleashed if it was any different. Otherwise, I love this band and they keep getting better on each album, focused, like Neilstein said. Sworn Allegiance though, still the album to top in my opinion.
Nailed it right? I don’t pay much attention to vocals in general, but Mr. ST0lER0’s got a point: Headlund’s approach isn’t too varied, which is a bit of a bummer, but it still works, and it’s distinctly Unleashed. And he’s absolutely right on the money that this band just seems to keep getting better and better with each album. I haven’t listened to Sworn Allegiance in a while, though, so I’ll need to go back and check it out again.
Unleashed released another new song called “Defenders of Midgard” yesterday. Check it out below. Dawn of the Nine comes out on April 24th via Nuclear Blast and can be ordered here.
