Behemoth Release “Messe Noire” Video as a Tribute to H.R. Giger
Behemoth’s new video for their song “Messe Noire” makes an interesting companion piece to yesterday’s Pallbearer clip for “Watcher in the Dark.” Like that video, the Behemoth one is hallucinogenic and hypnotizing; unlike that one, there is nothing even remotely benevolent about its tone. I mean, it is creepy. As. Fuck. Director Zev Deans has previously made equally unsettling, visually stimulating videos for artists such as Portal and Chelsea Wolfe, which leads me to believe director Zev Deans is both brilliant and deeply disturbed.
Appropriately, given that next month marks the one year anniversary of his death, the clip is dedicated to the memory of groundbreaking artist H.R. Giger. I obviously did not know Mr. Giger, but I think he would have really appreciated this clip. It’s certainly full of psychosexual imagery, as well as some very Giger-esque designs.
Check out “Messe Noire” below. The song appears on Behemoth’s The Satanist, which is out now on Metal Blade.
