Rumor: Lamb of God’s Chris Adler and Angra’s Kiko Loureiro to Record New Megadeth Album
Take this with a grain of salt until it’s confirmed, but: Ultimate Classic Rock is now reporting a rumor that Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler and Angra guitarist Kiko Loureiro will participate in the recording of the new Megadeth album, which is set to begin this Tuesday, March 17. They replace Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover, who left the band in November and have since started their own project, Act of Defiance, with Shadows Fall’s Matt Bachand and former Scar the Martyr vocalist Henry Derek.
Before Lamb of God fans get too freaked out with regards to what this means for LOG’s future: Adler would apparently only be acting as a session musician, and would not join Megadeth full-time. Adler has spoken about his love of old Megadeth in the past, so the opportunity to collaborate with the band was probably just too good for him to pass up.
As for Loureiro… he’s been in Angra since 1993. Nonetheless, it’s not hard to imagine him “trading up,” so to speak. (Don’t lose your shit, Angra fans: when I say “trade up,” I’m talking in terms of exposure and money, not necessarily creativity or talent.)
Interesting side note: Loureiro, a Brazilian, would be only the first musician not from North America to ever join Megadeth, and only the third non-American to be in the band (Shawn and Glen Drover are Canadian).
We will, of course, keep you updated on any further developments…
