Kyzer Soze’s Ascension: U Jam?

Australia’s Kyzer Soze could probably use a better name — I love The Usual Suspects as much as anyone, but even with the misspelling, their SEO is in the dumps. And that’s bad, because Kyzer Soze is good.

A press release accurately asserts that the band’s debut album, Ascension, “will appeal to listeners of bands such as Behemoth, Hour of Penance, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.” Kyzer Soze are the kind of band the Summer Slaughter set will eat up — brutally punishing and impressively technical, but still capable of writing hooks. I haven’t seen Kyzer Soze play live, but unless all their limbs are broken, they will almost certainly be more to watch than another Australian death metal band whose name rhymes with “My Fart Fizz Herder.”
