Hey, It’s Another Alice in Chains Tour!

I accept that Alice in Chains are basically for olds now. I recently asked someone of the younger generation (23) who’s in a prominent metal band whether he dug the band or no care ever, and his answer basically boiled to “No. Not heavy enough.” Which I get. To me Alice in Chains are and will always be suffocatingly heavy, if not in an overt way, but I get it: by today’s standards, they’re light.

Not that that mitigates my ever-loving interest in the band. I still revel in the chance to see them live, even if nothing could ever approach the awesomeness/excitement of seeing them when they first came back in 2006. The songs just do it to me, every time! And that patented AiC heaviness. It might not be “brutal,” per se, but oh fuck is it ever heavy.
