Poll: Would You Care About a Mudvayne Reunion?

0

MudvayneI haven’t thought about Mudvayne in a while. Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett have been doing Hellyeah for the past five years (though Tribbett left last year), and to me Mudvayne weren’t ever a band I devoted much mindspace to anyway: they had a few catchy songs in the early ’00s, but I didn’t follow them closely.

But I know a certain generation and type of metalhead considers Mudvayne very important. Those who came of age in the Korn and Limp Bizkit years but maybe demanded an extra layer of complexity and musicianship than those bands and most of their peers offered. I understand and respect that Mudvayne delivered in that regard, and that some folks absolutely adore them even if they never did a whole lot for me personally.

Then I saw this interview Chad Gray gave with Songfacts [via The PRP] in which he says, “Mudvayne‘s probably bigger now than it ever was. So, people want what they can’t have,” which is absolutely true: when middling bands go away for a while they only seem to come back bigger than ever. But just how big were Mudvayne to begin with? I looked on Wikipedia to find out, and discovered that they’ve sold 3 million records in the U.S. and 6 million worldwide. Holy shit!

So, I ask you, MetalSucks readers, whose tastes are incredibly varied all across the metal spectrum: would you be stoked for a Mudvayne reunion, or would it be just another also-ran nostalgia tour?
