Streaming for Zero: Listen to the New Cancer Bats Album Right Now

When I popped on the new Cancer Bats album Searching for Zero over at Noisey I had a startling realization: I have never seen these guys live! Which is a real shame, because I hear their shows are off the hook, and their music is so fierce and intense I feel like the live setting would elevate it to the next level.

Lucky for me I finally get to see them at the Metal Injection SXSW showcase later this month! I hope they play some jams off Searching for Zero because I’m really digging it; Cancer Bats haven’t strayed too far from their usual combo of hardcore and meaty metal riffs, but I feel like they’re experimenting with some new sonic elements here as well. This album somehow seems grimier than the band’s past work, if that makes any sense. track 4, “Beelzebub,” is so sludgy it could almost be a Crowbar song.
