Bruce Sinofsky, Co-Director of Metallica’s Some Kind of Monster and West Memphis 3/Paradise Lost Films, Dead at Age 58
Deadline reports that documentary filmmaker Bruce Sinofsky died this past Saturday morning due to complications from diabetes. He was fifty-eight years old.
Sinofsky, along with his directing partner Joe Berlinger, made the Metallica documentary Some Kind of Monster, as well all of the Paradise Lost films, which chronicled the plight of the West Memphis 3 (and many believe were ultimately instrumental in getting the West Memphis 3 out of prison). He and Berlinger were nominated for an Oscar for the most recent (and presumably final) film in the Paradise Lost series, Purgatory.
Sinofsky didn’t work exclusively within the world of metal — most recently, he was collaborating with Oprah Winfrey, of all people — but he obviously made a big, big impact on the metal world with his work. Our thoughts are with Sinofsky’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Below, celebrate Sinofsky’s legacy by listening to a three-part interview he and Berlinger gave regarding Some Kind of Monster. He will be greatly missed.
