Bid Farewell to Your Brain Stem with The Monolith Deathcult’s “Hangmen Also Die”

What can I say about The Monolith Deathcult’s new single, “Hangmen Also Die,” that hasn’t been said about being set on fire whilst getting trampled by a stampede of rhinoceros? The song is a sand storm of sound, harsh and pitiless and somewhat overwhelming. It honestly took me a few listens to “get” the song, but I’ve come to love it. Some may finds its uninviting qualities as a failure in production… but I really think it’s just The Monolith Deathcult’s way of separating the men from the Thy Art is Murder fans. “Hangmen” has its root in old school, traditionalist death metal, but its definitely not a gateway for beginners.
