Worst 90s Nostalgia Act Ever of the Day: Upperground
Stuff You Will Hate continues to make good on the promise of its name! The latest band to whom the site has introduced me is Australia’s Upperground, who combine 90s funk-metal nostalgia, 90s rap-metal nostalgia, and 90s hardcore nostalgia into something so incredibly silly that it’s almost hard to believe it’s real. But as far as I can tell, the band isn’t trolling. In fact, they appear to be more or less completely humorless, as was required by the Cobain Statute of 1994.
The fastest way to understand the surreal nature of this band’s existence might be the below video of them performing live, which I initially mistook for a clip from the next Paranormal Activity movie:
Amazing, right?
The craziest part is that this isn’t the band members’ first attempt at partying like it’s 1999. Here’s a video for their previous group, Highways, who sound like the should be on the soundtrack for a Freddie Prinze, Jr. movie:

If you just can’t get enough of Upperground — and I wouldn’t be able to blame you if that were to be the case! — you can stream their entire EP, Man’s World, below. I strongly suggest you check it out if for no other reason than because the lyrics are just, m’wah!, magnificent. Enjoy:
