Rwake Rwawk “Nagarachi”
I’m gonna throw some hot shit at you, but it’s actually old shit, so it’s cool: Rwake have released another song from the Relapse’s remastered reissue of their 1998 demo, Xenoglossalgia: The Last Stage of Awareness.
The track, “Nagarachi” (which I believe is a brand of popular Japanese sushi-flavored nachos), sounds very little like Rwake as we’ve come to know them; the heavy synths and triumphalist tone would probably seem way out of place on any of their post If You Walk Before You Crawl, You Crawl Before You Die-era material. I dig it, but I’m also glad that the band evolved into something far more bleak and singular.
