Lord Dying Battle Yuppie Scum in New Video for “Poisoned Altars”
Is “yuppie infestation” a serious problem in Portland these days? I guess it’s a serious problem in a lot of places now, but I’ve long envisioned Portland as being a safe haven from the yups, mostly because everyone I’ve ever met who has lived there is pretty granola, and because last year I heard a Patton Oswalt joke about someone needs to “drop a motivation bomb” on the town (whatever else you wanna say about yuppies, lazy they ain’t).
Assuming it has become an issue in the city where twenty-somethings go to retire, it won’t be for long: Portland natives Lord Dying are on top of that shit. In the video for the title track from their just-released new album, Poisoned Altars, the band and their fellow hairy flannel-wearers (including members of Red Fang, Thrones, Yob, and Witch Mountain) combat the yuppie horde via severe(ly cartoonish) violence, and, of course, the raw power of ROCK. And as a bonus, it looks like vocalist/guitarist Erik Olson is about to crack up in just about every shot. Watch the clip, which was directed by Brett Roberts and Jackass‘ “Danger” Ehren McGhehey, below, courtesy of Noisey:
Poisoned Altars is out now on Relapse. Olson recently tipped us off to the best record shops in the western United States; check out that list here.
