Down Release Official Live Video “We Knew Him Well”

I think this video represents everything that Down is, in one four and a half minute assault on the senses. They are the antithesis of 2015 – no triggered laser perfection or auto-tune (really, really no auto-tune), no electronica interludes, and I can only assume no deodorant. The recording is pro, but raw as hell, with the energy of the crowd very present, and the band reciprocating with a massive wall of feedback and riffs.

Phil is actually in fine form here, better than he’s sounded in recent years for sure. Maybe he’s been taking his own advice and keeping his metal in shape. The band is also doing what they do best, nothing fancy, just fat riffs and sludge for days. I suspect that those mini walls of Orange stacks behind them may actually be plugged in and turned on!
