Horsehunter Chronicle the World’s Second-Most Pleasant Death in New Song
Matthew McConaughey’s dad died while having sex. As the expression goes, “If you gotta go, go with a smile,” and I imagine that man died smiling. When our time comes (pun intended), we should all be so lucky.
Runner-up for best case scenario for your demise, though, would be to get stoned to death… which, oh hey!, just so happens to be the name of the new song from Australian doomsters, Horsehunter. (I’m making the assumption they mean “to be stoned” by smoking ganja, not “to be stoned” like people are throwing rocks at you. That would suck.) For better or worse, I don’t think it’s actually possible to overdose on weed — if it was, surely, Vince and I would be six feet under right now — but it’s still a nice idea.
More importantly: the song is really good! Appropriately enough, the main riff sounds like an evil version of the one from Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused,” which is arguably the first-ever doom metal jam. In any case, you should get right and check this shit out.
You can do so over at Decibel! (Listen to the song, I mean. Unfortunately, Decibel‘s website cannot smoke you out… yet.) They’re even offering a free download of the track. Jeepers, what swell fellas!
“Stoned to Death” will appear on Horsehunter’s Caged in Death, which comes out March 10 on Magnetic Eye.
