Is Unsacred’s False Light Tr00?

You may have noticed a dearth of black metal albums on my year-end list last week, and there’s a reason for that — as many great metal albums as I heard in 2014, none of the ones that really wowed me could be considered black metal (unless you count Behemoth’s The Satanist, which I do not).

I know other people who think there was no shortage of great black metal releases this year, though, and one of the releases which seems to have caught those folks’ attention was False Light, the album from Unsacred that came out just this week on Forcefield Records. Personally, I think False Light is a good album, but nowhere near being year-end worthy; frankly, I just can’t find much to distinguish it from the trillions of other underground black metal bands who sound more or less identical.
