Stream the New Alkaloid Track Right Now! (Ex and Current Members of Necrophagist, Obscura, Dark Fortress, Aborted & Spawn of Possession)
If you were to get stoned with your buddy and start arguing about what the best tech-death super group of all time would look like you’d probably land on a lineup pretty close to this:
Morean (Dark Fortress, Noneuclid) – Vocals, Guitars
Christian Muenzner (Spawn of Possession, Ex-Obscura, Ex-Necrophagist) - Guitars
Danny Tunker (Aborted, Ex-God Dethroned) - Guitars
Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Noneuclid) - Bass
Hannes Grossmann (Blotted Science, Ex-Obscura, Ex-Necrophagist) - Drums
World, meet Alkaloid, the world’s newest and tech-deathiest supergroup, whose existence we first told you about back in July mere days after Muenzner and Grossman quit Obscura. The outfit just posted a new song called “Carbon Phrases” (embedded below), and what I’m loving most about it is that it isn’t just a sum of its parts; it’s all over the map stylistically, from old-school prog rock (aka new Opeth) to post-metal, to Cynic-y atmospherics to — yes — pummeling Obscura/Necrophagian tech-death blasts.
Alkaloid are currently in the midst of a crowd-funding campaign for their new album The Malkuth Grimoire, and after only 3 days they’ve managed to raise €8,000 out of the €12,000 they’re seeking. It’s looking good that this thing will see the light of day! Donate here.
