Is This the New Necrophagist Album Art? (No.)

So there’s this site called Honest Album Art (a very funny and original idea), and they recently posted what they claim is the cover art for a new Necrophagist album:

According to MetalSucks reader Peter W., who tipped us off to this happening, HAA’s claim has been leant credence because “Someone in the comments then posted a link to the artist who made the album art. In the comments, the artist said that the band it was for is ‘Top Secret’.” That artist’s name is Paolo Girardi, and he’s done metal album covers before (most notably, for Artificial Brain’s Labyrinth Constellation). So I can see how some people might buy into this.

Alas, it’s not true. For thing, Girardi posted the link to the original artwork way back in November of 2012. Even if Necrophagist commissioned new album art more than two years ago, the chances that they or their label, Relapse, would allow it to remain public for so long are slim, even if it was labeled “top secret.”

But even if I was totally, completely wrong about that, I can tell you for a fact that there is currently no new Necrophagist album in the works. At best, it exists solely in the head of Muhammed Suiçmez. Maybe there are demos on his computer or something. Maybe.

How do I know this? Well, for starters, I am a professional troller of Necrophagist fans, and a fisherman always knows another fisherman. But more importantly, and to be quite blunt, I know this because I do this for a living, dummy. You think Vince and I are constantly pestering our sources for news on a Necrophagist release? It simply does not exist. From what I understand, the ball is perpetually in Suiçmez’s court — he has the resources to make a new album at his disposal, he just hasn’t actually taken advantage of those resources. Why? Dunno.

But I do know that this is bullshit. Trust me on this one.
