Juggalos Harassing Businesses in Portland
Have you ever seen the Juggalo-themed episode of Workaholics? Basically, the dudes meet a bunch of Juggalos, and the Juggalos seem pretty cool, and they dudes are like, “Wow, Juggalos aren’t as bad as we thought they were!”, and then the Juggalos end up being really violent assholes, and the dudes are like, “Wow, Juggalos are EXACTLY who we thought they were!”
The arc of that episode reflects my own emotional rollercoaster of an experience with Juggalos: I thought they were dumb, and then this documentary made me feel like they might actually be okay, and now I think they’re dumb again. I mean, I may judging them based on the actions of one small portion of their population, but that small portion’s antics make them all just look so dumb it’s really hard not to feel deep shame for the entire group.
The latest evidence that Juggalos are morons: this report from Portland, Oregon’s KOIN 6, detailing how Juggalos have been harassing local businesses with fliers making violent threats:
What neither I nor the proprietors of the attacked businesses understand is what the Juggalos’ specific objections are. Do they think they’re fighting gentrification? Have these businesses demonstrated some prejudice against Juggalos by suddenly implementing a “No Clown Make-Up Allowed” policy? Do the Juggalos of Portland feel they need their own independent state, like Palestine? Or are they just, y’know, stupid hooligans? ‘Cause it seems like the last one is the answer. And then Juggalos are all, “Why does the FBI think we’re a gang?!?!“
