Non-Metal Musicians All That Remains Release Metal Song
What a difference a few months makes. It was just this past August that Phil Labonte was celebrating All That Remains’ transcendence from metal to whatever the fuck kind of music “musicians” play… and on Saturday (the news cycle’s single busiest day when everyone in the world is absolutely sitting in front of their computers), the band released a new single, “No Knock,” which is definitely a metal song, with nary an auto-tuned clean vocal in sight.
Sadly, it’s not a good metal song. The main riff is pretty cool and for the first verse you’re like “Oh, wow, this is pretty rad,” but the chorus is anti-climactic, and the the track never really goes anywhere. Its just too shapeless and repetitive to really work. And the lyrics are… well… yeah. I dunno that metal needed an ode to camping (“You best be ready for anything! So grab your gear and let’s go!” commands Troop Leader Labonte).
It did give me the urge to listen to This Darkened Heart again, though. So that’s good. Remember that album? It was way cool! It actually holds up fairly well, too.
ANYWAY, you can check out “No Knock” below, along with some footage of Phil Labonte’s dog and, even more enticingly, Phil Labonte’s foot. The song will appear on the band’s new album, which will be out next year.
