The Guy Phil Rudd Tried to Hire to Kill Two People Says the AC/DC Drummer is a “Good Fella”
Although his name had not yet been released to the public, Melbourne’s Herald Sun has an interview with the man who AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd allegedly attempted to hire to murder two people. Unsurprisingly, the picture he paints of Rudd is that of a devious, sociopathic killer:
“The joys of being a rock star, always in the spotlight. You’ve got to feel sorry for him – just the expectations everyone has of him. He’s a good fella. He’s got a big heart.”
He also discussed how Rudd would let him drive all of his fancy, expensive sports cars and take him on helicopter trips. While he does admit that Rudd is “burning the ones who care about him” (trying to have those people killed will have that effect), the whole thing really reads more like Little Orphan Annie’s account of being adopted by Daddy Warbucks than it does a conversation about a guy whose friend allegedly turned to him one day and said, “Hey, if I give you some money, can you kill a couple of people for me?”
Maybe this intended hitman was being misquoted — maybe he didn’t say “Rudd is a good fella,” but, rather, “Rudd is a Goodfella.” That would make sense.
Meanwhile, AC/DC have released the following statement regarding Rudd’s arrest:
“We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year.”
