Video: Liturgy Appear on NBC’s The Blacklist… with Peter Fonda on Drums
I’ve never seen more than a few minutes of NBC’s crime drama/James Spader vehicle, The Blacklist. So I can’t speak about the show with any level of expertise. But apparently, last night’s episode, “The Mombasa Cartel,” featured a guest turn from Easy Rider‘s Peter Fonda, playing some kind of an activist for endangered animals. Okay, fair enough; as a poster child for hippies, Fonda as an animal activist is not a very big leap.
But for some reason, the writers decided that Fonda’s character should be introduced playing the drums with his band. And for some reason, the producers decided that that band should be Liturgy. Yes, that Liturgy.
Based on numerous online episode summaries, it would seem that the issue of why a seventy-four-year-old man spends part of his time playing drums with a factious black metal band whose other members are in their late 20s or early 30s is never actually addressed. So we’re just gonna have to consider this one of those bizarre metal occurrences that has no real explanation.
You can watch the band’s cameo below. Hulu embeds can be kinda wonky on WordPress for some reason, so if it’s not working, go here and skip to the 10:35 mark.
