Byzantine Finish Tracking Fifth Album, First Tour in Seven Years Starts Tomorrow!
Any news regarding Byzantine invariably makes me happy (unless it’s “Chris ‘OJ’ Ojeda Hit By Bus,’ a headline I’d hope never to see). So it is with great, great pleasure that I relay to you this post on Byzantine’s Facebook post, with the above photo, from early Monday morning:
Obligatory celebration photo. After three long weeks, Byzantine has finished tracking their fifth album! — with Brian Henderson, Matt Wolfe, Jay Hannon and Sean Sydnor.
Huzzah! After successfully crowd-funding the recording budget for the album, the band promised a February 2015 release. That timeline seems totally reasonable given today’s news, so it’s likely we’ll be hearing new Byzantine sooner than you can say “West Virginia.”
But that’s not all: The Byz’s first real tour in seven years kicks off tomorrow in Morgantown, WV and wraps ten days later in their home town of Charleston, all with Thy Will Be Done and IKILLYA in tow. Lucky for me they’re playing NYC on Thursday as part of the Skateboard Marketing CMJ showcase (full CMJ metal listings here). They absolutely CRUSHED when I saw them play Brooklyn’s Club Europa last year, and I can’t wait for more. Get complete tour dates here.
