The Black Dahlia Murder’s Trevor Strnad Gets Disentombed
If you’re in a young band, one really good way to get people to pay attention to you is to get an endorsement from someone who already has cred. Case in point: Disentomb, a death metal band that completely redeems Australia for Thy Art is Murder. Two years ago, I had no idea who these guys were. Then last year, The Black Dahlia Murder’s Trevor Strnad praised them as a younger band that is carrying on death metal’s good name, and I was like “Oh, I should pay attention to these dudes.” And now Strnad has lent his voice to an actual Disentomb song, and I’m listening to it and writing about it! Strnad is to Disentomb as Fred Durst is to Puddle of Mudd, only Strnad and Disentomb haven’t committed any crimes against humanity, in Disentomb probably won’t be doing everything in their power to distance themselves from Strnad in ten years.
So: the Distrandome collaboration comes in the form of a song called “Forced Adornment of the Funerary Crown” (where would death metal be without its long titles full of three-syllable words?), which you can stream below. As you’d suspect when dealing with a song featuring two vocalists, there’s lots of harmonizing. Strnad sings the higher parts. Okay, I’m kidding. About the harmonizing, I mean. Strnad’s voice is the higher one, though.
“Forced…” appears on Disentomb’s Misery, which is out now. Get it here.
