Closure In Moscow: U Jam?
Likely the wildest album you’ll hear today, Closure In Moscow’s Pink Lemonade would makes sense buried in a playlist with Mr. Bungle, Tubring, The Mars Volta, Muse, Coheed and Cambria, Jellyfish, The Fall Of Troy, Devin Townsend, and The Pineapple Thief. In other words, CiW dudes can play, write melodies, and indulge any whim that strikes — all in the same song.
But your love of Pink Lemonade might hinge on your vibe on a moment-to-moment basis: Sometimes its a hooks and hairpin turns invigorate, on other days they aggravate. A listener can sing along and mutter “Oh shut up” just seconds apart. Its songs seem to both impress and try too hard. So it’s in cases like this that the title of this series is its most literal; sure, we’re prodding you to give CiW a day in your most just court, but mostly we’re hoping you, dear MetalSucks reader, can help us understand our feelings about a polarizing avant rock album.
