Juicy Tour Alert: Take Over And Destroy, Year Of No Light
It may not benefit Take Over And Destroy to employ the acronym TOAD as they do. It implies a sunny, stonery band, which the Arizona sextet is … not. Instead, TOAD (sorry) and their new album Vacant Face are about mid-tempo chromatics (like Slayer at half-speed), darkly gothic vocals amid maelstrom (like Sisters Of Mercy hanging out with Converge), and subtler-than-Emperor atmospherics (like Secrets Of The Sky). Imagine a black metal epic performed by fans of ’70s art rock and ’80s new wave, and thusly expect an irresistible, catchy listen (below). It’s beautiful, it’s scary, it’s endlessly replayable. We love it!
But that’s old news. The new news is that Take Over And Destroy is taking Vacant Face on tour with MetalSucks faves Year Of No Light from France, who will make their stateside debut. It’s only the West Coast, but so worth a trip! Dates up there!
Take Over And Destroy’s Vacant Face came out in August via Comfort Point. Get it here and here.
