Twerkgate Continues: Mastodon Plan Twerk-tastic Halloween Shirt

Oh, Mastodon, you rapscallions, you!

The band is apparently planning to respond to last week’s controversy surrounding their twerk-heavy new video for “The Motherload” with the release of this shirt:

Metal Insider first spotted the new design on the Facebook page of Darren Sanders, guitar tech and brother to bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders (as well as Hellyeah’s Kyle Sanders). Although it’s not yet available for sale on Mastodon’s official merch page (where, in fact, they are currently peddling a wholly different Halloween-themed shirt), Sanders has apparently assured fans that it will “hittin’ the streets soon.”

And it should make a nice companion piece to last year’s contentious Thanksgiving tee, too! Maybe Mastodon can start a new tradition of pissing people off right around every holiday. Just watch: their Christmas shirt this year will feature Santa’s elves gangbanging Mrs. Claus or something. Next Easter, they’ll release a shirt asserting that “Jesus Hath Not Risen.” And who can even imagine what kind of incendiary design they have planned for the next Presidents’ Day! OMG!!!
