Just $17,000 Burning a Hole in Your Pocket? Buy John Bonham’s Snare!
So our sister site, Gear Gods, does this really cool column called “Find of the Week,” in which they call attention to some rad piece of equipment they’ve found which is currently for sale. Often times, this “Find of the Week” is just really great equipment at a really great price… but sometimes, they stumble across something truly special.
Like, say, a Ludwig snare drum that once belonged to Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham, arguably the greatest rock drummer of all time, being sold on eBay for a cool $17,000. (That’s just for the “Buy it Now” option. If you wanna take your chances with an actual auction, the starting bid is $10,000. As of this writing, there have been no bids.)
The snare is supposed to come with a letter of authenticity from the auction house that previously possessed it; I’m never quite sold by those letters of authenticity, because, y’know, writing something down doesn’t make it so. Still, assuming this is the real deal, it would make quite a cool bit of memorabilia for some lucky fan.
