Exmortus’ New Video “Metal is King:” Manowar for the New Generation
If you were to ask me which band wrote a song called “Metal is King,” without hearing it, I’d say “Manowar” without hesitation.
Turns out it’s by Exmortus, from their highly excellent early 2014 release Slave to the Sword (I’m horrible with song titles), itself a very Manowar-like album name. Come to think of it, are Exmortus really that far of a stretch from Manowar? Sure, they play much faster, and they don’t wear leather and chains, but they’re very much cut from the same [loin]cloth: shreddy guitars, epic and catchy songs, innovative on-stage theatrics, songs about fantastical subjects and, as we have here today, songs about metal itself. The only thing missing, besides the aforementioned garb, is an Exmortus song about Exmortus. Get on that, dudes.
Speaking of Manowar, I heard a rumor that they’re appearing at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in 2015. Just sayin’. Hopefully Exmortus will be invited too. I’ll wear my loincloth.
