Against Me’s Laura Jane Grace Calls Former Bandmate and New Slipknot Drummer Jay Weinberg a Bag of Poop
Slipknot still haven’t made any official announcement with regards to the identities of their new drummer and bassist, which is pretty silly, because we all know now who they are — Alessandro Venturella is the bassist, and Jay Weinberg is the drummer.
(I mean, we could be wrong. Also, Ronnie James Dio, Cliff Burton, Jimi Hendrix and John Bonham could all rise from the dead and start a new supergroup. These are things that could happen.)
And in case you don’t know, once upon a time, Jay Weinberg was in Against Me!… and I guess he departed that band on less-than-amicable terms, because the band’s vocalist/guitarist, Laura Jane Grace, sent out this tweet earlier today:
Dear Slipknot, good luck with that. #shitbag

Madball, of which Weinberg was also once a member, apparently don’t like the drummer very much, either… but if he had any issues touring with Kvelertak last year, no one has said anything. So who knows? Weinberg might be trouble, or he might just be a strong personality that sometimes clashes with other strong personalities. That’s not exactly unheard of, especially when dealing with artistes such as these.
Something else to keep in mind: Weinberg is really Slipknot’s employee! There mere fact that he’s not getting his own mask tells you everything you need to know about his stature within the band. Plus, there’s a quadrillion other drummers out there would kill for this gig, and Clown doesn’t strike me as the kinda dude who takes a whole lotta shit. So if Weinberg steps out of line, I suspect he’ll get the boot pretty quick.
