“Imperator”: New Godflesh for Your Earflesh

“Imperator,” the newly-released song from Godflesh’s heavily anticipated reunion LP, A World Lit Only by Fire, sounds like a predator (no, not the movie monster, dummy). It creeps, it stalks… and then it pounces, and then it rips and claws. Justin K. Broadrick and G.C. Green both seem to be trying to set a new record for the heaviest tones ever achieved on their respective instruments; if they had a real drummer, he’d need to play on a kit made from rocks just to try and compete.

Clearly, this album is going to rule.
