Paradise Lost’s Nick Holmes is the New Singer for Bloodbath
After months if speculation, Metal Hammer has revealed that Paradise Lost frontman Nick Holmes is the new vocalist for Bloodbath.
He’s part of an illustrious lineage — the band’s previous vocalists were Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth, duh) Peter Tägtgren (Hypcorisy, double-duh) — but he was NOT one of the frontmen we previously hypothesized might have the gig. Probably because we don’t really think of Paradise Lost as a death metal band! An issue Metal Hammer addresses as part of the announcement:
The Paradise Lost singer might be known these days for his sonorous tones, but Bloodbath’s forthcoming album, Grand Morbid Funeral released by Peaceville Records on November 17, will see the return of the ravenous and cavernous growl that marked Paradise Lost’s debut album, Lost Paradise, so expect an outpouring of sonic dread, blood-soaked riffs and monstrous grooves, dragged even deeper into the lair of the awesome by the guest appearances of Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler from supreme US filthmongers, Autopsy.
So… How do you feel about Holmes as Bloodbath’s new vocalist? Excited? Disappointed? Indifferent? Ambivalent? Hungry? Gassy? Weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section below. Presumably, the band will release their first single with Holmes soon.
