Exclusive Trailer Premiere: Noisey’s NOLA: Life, Death and Heavy Blues from the Bayou
If you’re familiar with Noisey, the music arm of VICE, then you already know that they routinely produce great video content, like their Big Night Out episode focusing on England’s metal sub-culture, or their ongoing mockumentary about Ghost. Which is why we were naturally excited when we heard about their latest cinemetallic offering: NOLA: Life, Death and Heavy Blues from the Bayou is a seven-part series examining the people and the culture that helped foster New Orleans’ incredible metal scene. Appropriately, it features appearances by a horde of the living legends who helped create that scene, including Philip H. Anselmo (Housecore Records, Down, ex-Pantera), Mike “IX” Williams (Eyehategod), Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod, Down, Superjoint Ritual), Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, ex-Down), Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity, Down), and Sammy Duet (Goatwhore, ex-Acid Bath). And topics covered include not just music, but a variety of social issues which inarguably contributed to region’s singular sound: Hurricane Katrina, drugs, suicide, murder, and all that fun stuff.
MetalSucks is proud to debut the trailer for NOLA: Life, Death and Heavy Blues from the Bayou, which you can view below. The series premieres Tuesday, September 16, and will debut a new episode every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter until it comes to a conclusion on October 7. It’s going to be awesome — make sure you don’t miss an episode!!!
