Divine Heresy is a Thing Again
Yesterday, we asked you all which band you’d like to see reunite next, and not a single one of you said Divine Heresy. So, naturally, that’s the band which has now announced it reunion. Yay.
Original vocalist Tommy Vext posted the below video of himself and drummer Tim Yeung (ex-Hate Eternal, current Morbid Angel, etc.) on Instagram, along with the caption “Dear Divine Heresy Fans. Tim Yeung & I have a public service announcement for you”:
This naturally raises some questions, such as:
- What?
- Why?
- Really?
- Is this a prank?
- Does that mean Vext and Dino Cazares have squashed their beef?
- Would someone please get Dino Cazares some beef?
- If Cazares isn’t involved, is anyone gonna care about this?
- Seriously, this is a prank, right?
- Remember that bassist who quit the band after the band was already basically done? Whatever happened to that dude?
- No, but really though, why???
And we actually know the answer to at least two of those questions…
“@BrokenFace87: @DinoCazares wow wow wait. So your no longer in Devine Heresy??? What the hell is this im reading online???” Not true
— Dino Cazares (@DinoCazares) September 4, 2014
“@xsickerx: “Divine Heresy reform with original singer Tommy Vext http://t.co/m8FBuIufwR” @DinoCazares is it true??” No
— Dino Cazares (@DinoCazares) September 4, 2014
So that’s odd. Is that an impending legal battle I smell?
In any case, I have a lot of respect for Vext, so if this satisfies him creatively, well, I wish him all the best. Tim Yeung played drums on Morbid Angel’s Pessimus Musica Semper, so I have less sympathy for him… but it’s not like he’s a bad drummer or anything. I guess what I’m saying is, if they fill out the line-up with other talented people, there is a chance that this could be good. Until such a time when they’ve accomplished that feat, though, I’m still going to make jokes at their expense.
