Watch The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman Interview Mastodon’s Brent Hinds

This new video from Weinman’s Party Smasher Inc. became my second-favorite interview ever conducted with Hinds (the one on The Workhorse Chronicles DVD where he’s in the shower remains my favorite, just because why the fuck was the interview conducted while he was taking a shower???). For one thing, it’s funny as hell: Hinds’ comments about Metallica, the parentally-loathed “devil music” he listened to growing up (at which point he starts making a sound like one of titular violent vegetables from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes), and the other job he’d really like to have are all hilarious. For another thing, it’s informative: when Hinds asks Weinman how he manages to go so nuts on stage and still play Dillinger’s music perfectly — which is a question I’m sure many of us have asked ourselves — Weinman replies, “I can’t think about it. I go into a trance.” We also get some good dish on the duo’s long-gestating Giraffe Tongue Orchestra project, which, apparently, will finally gonna hit the studio soon.
