This Three-and-a-Half Minute Clip of Inter Arma’s Epic 40-Minute Song Sounds Really Promising
I like Inter Arma. They’re an entrancing live band, and their 2013 Relapse Records debut Sky Burial showed promise, although I can’t say I’ve gone back to it since.
Things seem to be moving in the right direction for the Richmond, VA natives: as their star rises in the metal world they’ll be releasing The Cavern on October 14th, an EP consisting of a single 40-minute song. Wowza!
The song was originally written in 2009, but it’s been reworked and refined since, and the band recorded it piecemeal during breaks from touring over the past year. And judging from this three-and-a-half minute collection of clips the band released with the EP announcement it’s gonna be a doozy: it’s all over the map stylistically, yet even from these small pieces I can tell there’s a common thread throughout. I really can’t wait to sit down with a joint and crank this thing from start to finish on my proper living room stereo system.
Windhand’s Dorthia Cottrell contributes guest vocals in the sample.
