Video: Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson Leads WWI Dogfight Reenactment
Because Iron Maiden are arguably the most theatrical band in all of metal (which is really saying something), and because Bruce Dickinson is a skilled professional pilot with a serious passion for aviation, and because they’re rich and they can afford to do shit like this: Dickinson led a reenactment of a World War I dogfight prior to the band’s performance at the Sonisphere earlier this month.
Prior to the show, Dickinson asserted that “The maneuvers we’ll be performing are all based on true-life battles from a hundred years ago.” Although the performance wasn’t entirely historically accurate: I don’t think any WWI pilots were wearing Trooper beer patches. I could be wrong about that, though. It’s been a long time since I covered this stuff in high school history class.
