Fifth Annual GWAR-B-Q Heats Up
The Fifth Annual GWAR-B-Q, which will take place on Saturday, August 16, is shaping to up to be a tribute truly worthy of the late, great Dave Brockie: in addition to previously announced acts like Hatebreed, Goatwhore, Revocation, Body Count, and Iron Reagan, the fest’s organizers have now announced that the Misfits will perform as well. And as if that’s not enough, Jerry Only is even gonna participate in the VIP Celebrity Meet & Meat, which is your chance to hang out not just with Only, but also Jamey Jasta, Ice-T, Bam Margera, Tesco Vee, and all the surviving members of GWAR. Unfortunately, that event is sold out… but there are still standard and deluxe tickets to the show itself available. Get ’em here.
Meanwhile, as previously announced, there will be a public memorial service for Dave Brockie the day before (Friday, August 15), which will include a viking funeral. I think it’s safe to say that anyone going to GWAR-B-Q was gonna attend the service anyway, but the whole thing is now that much more special: the one and only Jello Biafra will act as M.C. for the memorial, making him the first memorial M.C. that I’ve heard of. Hey, it’s not like he hasn’t broken new ground before…
It all goes down at Hadad’s Lake in Richmond, VA. The memorial service takes place from 4-7 pm; GWAR-B-Q kicks off the next morning at 10 am. Get more details here.
