Watch This Five-Minute Video of Guitar Tracking for Devin Townsend’s Z2

We’ve gotten a good look at Devin Townsend’s own recording process for the VERY long-awaited Z2 — both guitar and vocals — and we’ve watched drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen lay down his tracks. Now it’s time to watch Dave Young, who’s been playing guitar in Devin’s band pretty much forever, add his own special sauce to the stew in this video from Framus Guitars.

Even though the backing tracks are almost entirely cut out, this video may offer our best glimpse yet into what Z2 will actually sound like, or at least a close-up of the guitars; Young cycles through a whole bunch of riffs here. The samples Devin provided of new music for the crowd-sourced vocal parts were pretty revealing too, of course.
