Darkest Hour Make No “Misery”
I’ve instantly fallen bum-over-noggin in love with every song Darkest Hour have thus far unveiled from their new, self-titled album (specifically: this one, this one, and this one). However, I will admit that the latest cut from that album to be released, “The Misery We Make,” took a few listens to grow on me. Not that I ever hated — just that “creative risks” was clearly the name of the game for DH on this outing, and this particular song is a lllllloooonnnngggg way from anything they’ve done before. It took me some getting to used to is all.
But now? Now I’m way into it. As Metal Insider wisely observes, “the dual guitars and catchiness of the song should perk up the [fans’] ears,” regardless of the fact that it’s not a “traditional” Darkest Hour song.
Listen to “The Misery We Make” below. Darkest Hour comes out August 5 on Sumerian. The band is currently on Mayhem Fest alongside Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Suicide Silence, Body Count, and more. Get dates here.
