Mr. Owl Ate My Metal Worm: New Lazer/Wulf Album Streaming in Full!
By now you’re probably aware that Lazer/Wulf’s new album The Beast Of Left And Right was written as a palindrome, that is, the same backwards as forwards. While they don’t literally play every note and beat backwards on the album’s second half, the album’s ninth (and final) song is a re-interpretation of its first song, its eighth song is a re-interpretation of its second song, and so on and so forth. So, when listening to the album — which premiered yesterday over at AV Club — I suggest you listen to it in exactly that manner so you can get a feel for how they’ve rearranged each track to make it “palindromic:” first song followed by ninth, second followed by eighth, etc. A fun exercise in listening.
The Beast Of Left And Right comes out July 15 on Kylesa’s Retro Futurist label. Stream it in full at AV Club and order here.
