Listen to the Jazzy, Funky New Trioscapes Track Right Now!
Today’s a fantastic day for fans of jazz fusion side projects that feature a member of Between the Buried and Me: Trioscapes have released a new song! Huzzah!
We first learned about the trio’s plans for a sophomore album back in April when they posted a minute long jam session, and now the band has released “Stab Wounds,” the first track we’re hearing from Digital Dream Sequence. And it’s absolutely bananas — exactly what I’d hope for and expect from Trioscapes album #2, which comes out on August 19th and can be ordered here. I feel like each member has upped his game just a little bit: Walter Fancourt’s saxophone and flute lines are that much more adventurous, drummer Matt Lynch’s beats and rhythms are that might tighter and focused and Dan Briggs’s bass is just plain nasty and vicious. Listen below.
Anybody catch Trioscapes on their brief May tour? I was busy the night they hit NYC and couldn’t go.
