Phil Anselmo and The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman Have Started a Gang
Well, this is fairly shocking. I know Phil Anselmo has written songs like “Five Minutes Alone” and “Fuck Your Enemy,” but my (admittedly very limited) personal experience with the man is that he’s a pussycat, and that his violent lyrics were really just venting via fantasy, à la every death metal band ever. And as for Ben Weinman from The Dillinger Escape Plan, well… he’s really never had a reputation as a brawler. And, not that size is everything, but he is not a tall man… he’s just not the kinda dude you’d expect to get into a whole lot of fights and/or other various forms of illegal activity.
So imagine my shock when Weinman posted the below message on Instagram…
“Me and my uncle @philiphanselmo have a gang. And these pants are our uniform.”
Along with this photo of the duo adorned in their gang colors:
The Down vocalist also put the word out that the Anselmo/Weinman gang ain’t nuthin’ to fuck wit:

What’s even more incredible than the fact that these two guys started a gang is that they’re being so brazen about it, even in this day and age when the FBI is cracking down on gangs. Between this, the increasing popularity of King 810, and the fact that Solitary Son is the breakout metal star of 2014, you hafta wonder: could we be witnessing the rise of thugcore???
