Converse Rubber Tracks x MetalSucks Preview, Week 3: Resilience

This coming July, five unsigned bands will visit Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn, NY to record at Converse’s completely free, state-of-the-art recording studio with producer Will Putney. MetalSucks held an open application process in April for bands to apply, then Axl, Vince and Will sifted through all of the entries to choose their five favorite bands. In the weeks leading up to these recording sessions, we’ll be previewing one band every Monday, so you can get a taste of what’s in store for ya! Resilience are an odd beast. For lack of a better term, they’re probably one of the most outright “modern” metal bands we’ve chosen for this year’s CRTxMetalSucks sessions — their music has elements of deathcore and djent, although they’re not really either of those things — but they’re also one of the most experimental and proggy, calling to mind modern DM pusher-forwarders like The Faceless and Rivers of Nihil. Those are some lofty comparisons.

But such are the heightened hopes we have for Resilience. We only had one song to go on — “Metanoia” — but it impressed us so much we thought we’d give these guys a shot. Think of it as a Major League Baseball team taking a chance on a hugely hyped but largely mysterious Cuban refugee; you never truly know what you’re going to get, but you hope it pays off because of the “high upside,” as they say. Resilience are a bit mysterious, sure, but oh, that high upside! We can’t wait to see what they’ll create when they get in the room with producer Will Putney.
