Slash Sets the “World on Fire”
At this point, I’ve pretty much accepted that the best part of any Slash solo outing is the guitar solo, and “World on Fire,” the title track from the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist’s new album, does not to change my opinion of that fact. It’s by no means a bad hard rock song — it certainly blows that new Godsuck single outta the water — but it’s pretty generic. Which is especially disappointing when you remember that this is the same guy who once wrote the riffs for “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” I still pray that someday Izzy Stradlin rolls in and helps this dude write some totally killer songs again.
World on Fire comes out September 15.
