acid bath corey taylorYesterday, we learned that Acid Bath are currently seeking a new vocalist to replace Dax Riggs; now it would appear that at least one member of the band already has a potential candidate for the position in mind. Drummer Jimmy Kyle has posted the following on the official Facebook page of Corey Taylor, frontman for Slipknot and Stone Sour (as of this writing, it’s the most recent comment on Taylor’s profile pic):

Of course, Kyle doesn’t specifically say here that he wants to discuss Acid Bath with Taylor — maybe he just needs to know which materials make for the most comfortable masks or something. But, gosh, that would make the past twenty-four hours’ events a mighty big coincidence.

Taylor is actually an interesting choice to replace Riggs; his vocal range is right, and he’d probably turn untold thousands, if not millions, of new fans onto the sludge metal legends. I still can’t really see this happening, though, for a number of reasons — the most self-evident of which is that Taylor already has his hands full with two very successful bands, which is what prevented him from joining Anthrax in 2007… allegedly, at least, because it didn’t seem to prevent him from almost joining Velvet Revolver a few years later. Given that guitarist Sammy Duet has his own commitments to Goatwhore, maybe teaming up with Acid Bath would require less of a time commitment than joining ‘Thrax or VR would… but… yeah I dunno.

Still, if nothing else, it will be fun to see all the purists lose their fucking shit at the mere mention of a member of Slipknot taking Riggs’ spot in Acid Bath. Surely, aneurisms will abound.

P.S. The anonymous tipster who alerted us to this development says that one Slipknot’s earliest shows was actually opening for Acid Bath, but I can’t find any evidence of that on the net. Can anyone verify?
