Here’s Some Derpy Footage of Devin Townsend Recording Vocals for Z2

Tracking sessions for Devin Townsend’s long-awaited sequel to Ziltoid have been underway for some time; powerhouse mega-drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen completed his job in early May and Devin began working on his guitar parts later in the month. Now that’s its June, it seems as if sessions for the double-album (!) should be near complete, eh? 

Yes, indeed! Vocals are typically the final piece of the recording puzzle, and Devy just posted some footage of himself being typically derpy in his home studio. I love watching stuff like this — vocals are such a personal and intimate part of the recording process, yet here’s Devin, presumably all alone (except for the audience of the entire world), just belting out line after line, GOING FOR IT, until he gets it right. And god, he’s such a talented vocalist. Watch:
