This Djent Cover of Super Mario Bros. is a Lot Less Cringe-Worthy Than You’d Think

Covers of the iconic music from Super Mario Bros. are a dime a dozen. Shit, my high school band covered it and that was not any time in the recent past (with rappers freestyling on top of it! because that was a thing back then). So what could possibly be left to do that hasn’t been done already?

Quite a bit, it turns out. Sure, this guy is a total doofus (which he willingly plays up for effect in the video), but he’s got some serious chops and really puts his own spin on things, even tying together music from different levels in a coherent way. And that shredtastic guitar solo? Totally unexpected and totally awesome.
