Tombs’ “Spirals” is Dizzying

Stereogum has debuted “Spirals,” another new tune from Tombs’ forthcoming release, Savage Gold. The whole song is gnarly, but what really jumps out at me after an initial listen are Andrew Hernandez’s frantic-yet-hypnotic drums; it sounds like the dude has fire crackers going off under his ass and his arms are about to fly off (I mean that as a compliment), and the cymbals make me feel as though someone put a metal pot over my head and struck it really hard with a steel lance (I also mean that as a compliment). Even when the song slows and adopts a dreamier vibe, every drum hit hits you in the gut like a rifle shot. I get exhausted just listening to it. Savage Gold is gonna be awesome!
